Despite state-of-the-art technology and extensive surveys in advance, one can never rule out encountering the unexpected in the mountain. This can be a crystal fissure or a less sparkling find. At the Gotthard access tunnel in November 2022, there were asbestos discoveries that the original geological forecast report had not foreseen.
The project team acted quickly and prudently with the involvement of all project participants and control bodies: an excellent example of the holistic application of our processes, which ensure not only quality but also occupational safety and environmental protection. In this way, a potential hazard was prevented and the damage was quickly repaired.
