Another major project for the 2nd Munich main line launched

Work continues at full speed on one of Germany's most extensive transportation infrastructure projects: with the official ground-breaking ceremony for the connection to Munich's Ostbahnhof station, Implenia and partner Hochtief are opening a new chapter in the construction of the second S-Bahn main line.

The Ostbahnhof Tunnel consortium (ARGE), under the commercial leadership of Implenia Civil Engineering, is building the connection between Ostbahnhof and the Marienhof stop. Marienhof station in the heart of the Bavarian capital. To this end, two traffic tunnels and a rescue tunnel, two rescue shafts, the new Munich East underground station and a new railroad underpass are being built over a distance of around three kilometers.
