Mental health: we talk about it

Openness about mental health has traditionally not been high on the agenda in the construction industry. Implenia Norway wants to change this and has included the topic in meetings and discussions during HSE Week (HSE: Health, Safety, Environment) 2025.

"If you know people well, you can sense when something is wrong."
Connie Ravndal, concrete worker
A survey of all employees was conducted to find out what a corporate culture should look like so that employees feel safe enough to speak up if they encounter difficulties. "Traditionally, people in the construction industry don't talk openly about difficulties. We want to change that at Implenia. It's important that we look after our employees, and I think it's an important first step to show that you can talk openly about the subject," explains Managing Director Berger Johannessen.

"If you keep things inside you, you can't distance yourself from the problem."
Arne Reidar Pedersen, Foreman
In this context, a film has been made in which several of our employees share their thoughts on mental health in everyday life and in their private lives.

"Our industry is known for its macho culture with little room to talk about feelings."
Berger Johannessen, Managing Director, Implenia Norway
