Reinforced concrete bridge "Overfly" officially opened

Implenia has been the technical lead in a consortium with Donges Steeltec GmbH since 2021, playing a key role in the implementation of this challenging infrastructure project. At the heart of the project is the 586-metre-long Overfly - a cable-stayed, six-span steel composite bridge with five pylons, which was built over the freeway junction using the incremental launching method. The structure separates the traffic flows, significantly increases traffic safety and sustainably improves the performance of a highly frequented international traffic junction.

The measure comprises the construction of a 6-span bridge spanning the Nuremberg East interchange, crossing the A6 (Heilbronn - Amberg), the A9 (Berlin - Munich), the Amberg Munich ramp (2x) and the distributor roadway (Berlin - Amberg).
Together with representatives from politics and administration - including the Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder, the Bavarian State Minister of Housing, Construction and Transport Christian Bernreiter as well as the Chairman of the Management Board Dr. Michael Güntner and the Director of the Northern Bavaria branch Thomas Pfeifer of Autobahn GmbH des Bundes - Henning Schrewe, Managing Director of Implenia Civil Engineering GmbH, inaugurated and handed over this new infrastructure structure.
"The project's success is a testament to Implenia's engineering and execution expertise, precise construction processes while traffic continues to flow and a collaborative partnership between all those involved," emphasized Henning Schrewe. "The project also makes an important contribution to sustainable traffic relief and reducing emissions. We would like to thank all the project partners and especially the Implenia teams on site for their great commitment and trusting cooperation right up to the successful completion."
