New Munot Bridge with innovative UHFB surfacing

In mid-December, after a three-month construction period, the new bridge structure of the Munot Bridge in Schaffhausen was installed as a prefabricated overall element. By using UHFB/Splittmatrix for the decking, Implenia was able to meet both the high technical requirements and the demands of monument protection.

The northern Munot Bridge is the main access to the historic fortress in Schaffhausen and is used daily by locals, tourists and for the delivery of goods at events. The existing bridge, built in 1961, was in need of renovation. Roland Strebel, Head of UHFB at Implenia, and construction manager Patrick Burkhardt agree: "Thanks to the use of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHFB) for the flooring, it was possible to meet the visual requirement of the monument protection authorities that the color of the new bridge should match the masonry of the fortress."
