Expertise in the construction of data centers
Data centers are the backbone of a digital economy and society. This is where large volumes of data are stored, processed and managed reliably, quickly and securely. Implenia is building a total of three high-performance data centers for the leading Swiss data center provider Green on the Zurich Metro Campus in Dielsdorf. Their availability is time-critical. Because with cloud and AI, the demand for data centers is growing rapidly.
Tight schedule, high requirements
What is needed here is a specialized team that can contribute its many years of experience and extensive expertise as a general contractor. "We know how to optimally manage the construction of data centers on a tight schedule while meeting the customer's highest requirements in terms of quality, security and costs," says project manager Adrian Eberle. Interface management and logistics are correspondingly demanding. Consistently used data and digital processes ensure optimal workflows during construction. With BIM2Field, the data from planning is transferred directly to the construction site - 2D plans are a thing of the past. We work with 3D models.
Specialized in data center construction
"Data centers are extremely complex construction projects with very high requirements in terms of safety standards and building fabric. Building such facilities is fascinating and we are helping to make the digital world more secure." If you add up all the data centers that Implenia has already built or will build in the greater Zurich area according to the current order backlog, there are six. This makes data centers a third important area in which Implenia specializes in building construction, alongside healthcare and laboratory buildings and modernization .
Jens Vollmar, what are the benefits of specialization in building construction?
"Thanks to specialization, we create excellence for our customers and for our projects. By repeatedly carrying out similar projects, we improve from time to time in terms of planning and execution. We gain further expertise in the respective area, which benefits both the customer and us."
Incidentally, there is a sustainable premiere at the Metro Campus Zurich: façade elements made of 100% recycled end-of-life aluminum are being produced and used for the office building, which is also being built by Implenia. This innovative material reduces the CO2 footprint by a factor of 40.
