Breakthrough for the Stockholm power grid
The project
The Anneberg-Skanstull tunnel is the second of four phases in the Citylink project, which will contribute to improving the electricity supply in the Stockholm region. With a length of about 14 km and a diameter of 5 m, the tunnel is driven about 50 - 100 m under the Swedish capital with the help of a tunnel boring machine.

The City Link project—the Anneberg-Skanstull Tunnel—marks a significant step toward enhancing the Stockholm region’s power supply. In partnership with HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, Implenia is building this essential tunnel on behalf of Svenska kraftnät. The tunnel stretches 13.4 km, with a diameter of five meters, and is constructed 100 meters below Stockholm using state-of-the-art tunnel boring technology.
This ambitious project is part of a historic expansion and modernization of the power grid, enabling Stockholm to continue growing as a dynamic hub for innovation, business, and job creation.
