Milestone 35 meters below Toulouse

Some metro stations are being built at impressive depths - including the François Verdier station in the heart of Toulouse. It will be the deepest station on the future Line C - a structurally defining project for the southern French metropolis.

It is worth taking a look at the scale of this project: Toulouse's third metro line, Line C, will connect Colomiers and Labège in just 20 minutes. An ambitious project designed to make traffic flow more smoothly, reduce congestion and improve the quality of life for residents.

The lot in which Implenia is involved includes, among other things

  • the excavation of a 3,814-metre-long tunnel with a diameter of 10 meters
  • the construction of four underground stations at a depth of 24 to 39 meters
  • a ventilation shaft and extensive civil engineering work

At the beginning of April, the project reached an important milestone with the arrival of the tunnel boring machine at the François Verdier station.

A technical challenge in depth

This is a real technical challenge in a demanding environment, where the underpass of the Carnot parking garage, the crossing of the existing tunnel of line B and the creation of a connection between lines B and C have to be accomplished. A real concentration of engineering skills in a densely built-up urban environment. But behind this challenge are teams that drive the project forward every day.

Metro Toulouse Line C, Lot 3

The third metro line, Line C, will connect Colomiers and Labège in 20 minutes. Faster journeys, less congestion and pollution: this will benefit the quality of life and the environment.

The Implenia - Demathieu Bard Construction group has won one of the four underground construction sections: Construction section 3 in the city center of Toulouse.
