Implenia to build Lågen Bridge

Implenia Norway has been awarded the contract to build Lågen Bridge, an important element in the development of the new E6 in the Innlandet region.

The assignment was awarded by AF Gruppen, which holds the main contract for the E6 Roterud–Storhove section on behalf of Nye Veier AS. The contract value for Implenia is approximately CHF 40 million.

Lågen Bridge will span 552 metres, crossing the river Lågen just north of Lillehammer. It will be constructed as a four-lane concrete box girder bridge, 20 metres wide, founded on piles across 10 piers with spans of up to 61 metres.

“We are very pleased to have been entrusted with building Lågen Bridge, a project that places high demands both technically and environmentally. This is exactly the kind of challenge we at Implenia enjoy,” says Berger Johannessen, Managing Director of Implenia Norway.

“Lågen Bridge will be built using the incremental launching method, which allows the bridge segments to be cast on land and then pushed into position. This approach minimises environmental impact in the sensitive Lågen Delta,” he adds.

Environmental considerations have been central to the planning process. Strict restrictions have been introduced to protect nesting birds, spawning grounds, and biodiversity in the delta area. The use of BIM and incremental launching from land reduces the footprint and intrusion into nature.

“Implenia has proven to be a competitive and capable contractor, able to execute large and complex bridge projects like this. We are pleased to have Implenia on board for this important part of the E6 Roterud–Storhove project,” says Kristian Nilsplass, Division Director at AF Gruppen.

Implenia has already begun preparations and planning in close cooperation with AF Gruppen. Physical construction is scheduled to start in October 2025, with the first works involving piling by Keller Geoteknikk. Concrete works are planned to begin in early 2026.

“We look forward to starting this exciting project and to have a good, constructive collaboration with both AF Gruppen and Nye Veier,” says Berger Johannessen.
