"Implenia is an attractive employer for Generation Z"
When we talk to Almira Ibrahimi, she has only known for a few hours that she has completed her apprenticeship as an EFZ commercial clerk with a vocational baccalaureate. "I was already relatively sure that I would pass, as I had very good preliminary grades, but you never know," she says with relief. Her next step: she will join Implenia Holzbau in mid-July and start her part-time degree in International Business Management in the fall.
"You should embrace change"
She would choose the same training path again. "During an apprenticeship, you gain valuable work experience early on and are financially independent." She has also learned how to deal with change and that you should embrace it, even if you are initially afraid of it. She knows what she is talking about: the company where she started her apprenticeship went bankrupt in her first year before the summer vacation. It was not easy to find a new apprenticeship for the second year in a hurry. But in the end, she even had the choice between a major Swiss bank and Implenia. She opted for the construction services provider.
Convincing overall package for learners
The overall package convinced her. "On the one hand, Implenia offers great benefits for employees. For example, apprentices have eight weeks' vacation and we benefit from flexible working hours and working from home," she explains. That suited her very well, as she does a lot of sport. On the other hand, even as an apprentice at Implenia you can achieve a lot and take on responsibility if you show initiative. For example, she was able to independently organize a team event, initiate a process change and publish a post on LinkedIn.
The apprenticeship at Implenia
Around 80 apprentices start their careers at Implenia every year. Are you looking for an apprenticeship? We'd love to get to know you!
Learned a lot for life
During her apprenticeship, Almira worked in the Finance, HR and Marketing departments – and has learned a lot for life. "I learned a lot in those three years and developed enormously as a person." She came to Implenia from an SME with 60 employees, into a completely new world. Here, she has learned to deal with people from different generations, levels of knowledge and positions. "I find every personality so exciting and you can learn something from every person and everyone can give you something along the way," says the passionate amateur footballer. She needs sport as a balance. Almira has been playing football since she was six years old and currently plays for Club Zürich City, where she is the playmaker in midfield.
Freedom, self-determination and recognition
As a typical representative of Generation Z, freedom and self-determination over everyday life and recognition of performance are particularly important to her at work. "When a manager pays an employee a compliment, it has a huge impact on motivation," she is convinced. And sometimes she would like things to be a little more relaxed and less distant in business. "I'm convinced that you can do your job well with a certain amount of relaxation." She appreciates working in teams where people have good relationships with each other. "I'm grateful that I've been able to meet so many great people over the last three years and make some great friends." At Implenia, she says, all her expectations of an employer have been met. "Implenia offers a lot to young people and is an attractive employer for Generation Z."
