Implenia’s Way Forward - concentrating on profitable core business

Now that the strategy reviews at all our divisions are complete, something has become very clear: we have to improve Implenia’s risk profile significantly. Consequently, we plan to concentrate in future on core businesses that can deliver solid margins. We will focus on integrated construction and real estate services in Switzerland and Germany. In other markets we only plan to continue offering tunnelling and related infrastructure projects.

In the heart of Munich

The S-Bahn rail network in Munich is one of the largest in Germany. Up to 840,000 people travel on it every day, but the system was designed for fewer passengers and it is slowly reaching its limits. Commissioned by Deutsche Bahn, a Second Main Line, approximately 10 km long, is being built to provide relief. Implenia and Hochtief are leading the project.

What do you do if the plans and drawings for existing buildings have been lost, or are not up to date, or if there’s only a limited time to take measurements on site? René Kreil, a civil engineer at Implenia Maintenance and Repair in Erfurt, knows these problems only too well. So he has developed a clever digital solution, which is now available to Implenia and external companies.

Our projects

Masterpiece in the high Alps

The 100 m high Spitallamm dam is being built on Lake Grimsel. With the old dam wall in need of renovation, the decision was made to build a second wall directly in front of the existing one. Implenia, as part of the “Grimsel” joint venture, is building the new double-curvature wall at the heart of the Swiss Alps, due for completion in 2025.
